It has almost become a yearly routine. Jackson State travels up I-55 to Memphis to play in the annual Southern Heritage Classic. The strategy is in place by Friday. The gameplan is one that coaches feel is good enough to win with. Then the Tigers from Jackson State promptly go out and lose to the Tigers from Tennessee State, in what has now become an annual heartbreaker for JSU fans and an annual thrilling victory for TSU fans.
To bounce back from a season opening loss, Jackson State put out all of its anger on Stillman College and beat them 17 to 7 in their first home game. This win followed a 17-13 lost to Hampton University over the Labor Day weekend in the MEAC/SWAC challenge in Orlando, Fla.
